how about improvmx , it gives redirection for free , I have also discovered it right now in this thread though I think I had heard about it (I am not sure , I know of some email software where you pay one time and then you can self host or they host I am not sure)
The last section mentions that the PhysicsForums admins are experimenting with LLM-generated responses, so I think the site owners are responsible.

Why they would recycle old human accounts as AI "test accounts", I have no idea.
It's just one of many ways to do this. Websockets, ZeroMQ, HTTP long-polling, or just a plain old TCP socket would have worked as well, just to name a few. I just went with MQTT because somebody had already implemented 95% of what I needed.
