last time around he did get tariffs on steel, and one of my favorite small US manufacturers stopped being able to make computer cases because input costs rose too much.
I wouldn't get too optimistic basically. even some tariffs might cut off options.
That is certainly an issue. However, in reference to this design, I don't understand the point of having apps like weather and notifications if the large screen that would display such things is meant to face away from you so that others can see your status.
It is an LED screen that I can put anywhere. While the intention is as a busy screen, it can be utilized in a variety of ways. So, ultimately, why not?
I don't think "crazy by western standards" applies here considering the West' treatment of Muslims. Our right wing is just as insane, uncaring, and racist.
Because people care about and are invested in the art they make. It makes them easier to exploit "because they should feel privileged to have the job they want." People who work in creative industries all over the world face this issue.
Who gets to define whether someone is ‘exploited’ or not?
There are artists who would rather be paid even less, but given more creative freedom and control over the final product, (deciding on dubs, script changes, etc…) Especially in anime production.
Exploitation = leveraging a neverending stream of young people interested in working in an industry, initially for unsustainable wages, by dangling the prospect of eventual liveable wages in front of them, death marching them, and then firing them and hiring the next crop of new grads
Other industries do that, but at least they have the decency to compensate fresh hires decently. (E.g. law, management consulting)
Studio MAPPA was effectively grinding down the souls of their artists during the production of Jujutsu Kaisen [0]. The linked article is just one of many. The work conditions at MAPPA seem pretty unreasonable to me, so I'd consider them exploitative. These animators aren't being given any creative freedom either.
Funny because I never answer my door when anyone knocks. If you're knocking on my door it's because I don't know you, which means I probably don't want to talk to you. Anyone who knows me knows to call or text before they come by.
So you can't finish doing it whatever you were doing (save a document you're working on, etc) or charge your phone a bit in preparation? Or worse for water, fill a few bottles/pots/whatever in reserve?
When I was at my last house, I didn't have kids, and people would knock on my door every day. It was because my block was full of neighbors who were friendly and nice to one another, and not shut in their houses like hermits.
The way many people in the suburbs live these days, they'd might as well live in windowless metal shipping containers.
