They probably put this as a joke, but someone should try sending a report in Klingon ;)

AdPushup Inc. is hiring for JS Experts @ New Delhi, India office. Full time

------------------------------------------------------------

We're a disruptive AdTech company[1]. We're closing an angel round[2]. We're really cool[3].

We're on a hunt for extreme JavaScript Engineers for whom prototypes, closures, promises, MV* are the way of life. This position requires one to work on our unique (soon to be patent-pending) ad delivery and placement engine.

Check out the following link to know more: http://adpu.sh/jsguy-hn

[1] - Who isn't? :) Seriously though, we are actually changing how ad placement & optimization works.

[2] - Not made public yet, but the above link has some of the investors mentioned.

[3] - Well, nothing to back this up. But we're cool. Trust me!

In my understanding, it needs operator level access to control the modem, or is it also possible to control the model using a MITM like scenario (off the air interception). If the latter is possible, it can become all the worrisome! Any ideas?

Yeah, of course. Calls itself IMSI Catcher (the variant used by police/secret service). You can build one yourself with OsmocomBB and the rest of that open-source GSM network infrastructure stuff.

Voila, there is your operator-level access from the radio side.

On a quick read, the article doesn't talk about the licensing for the free fonts. Several free fonts I've liked are free for personal projects or websites, but are chargeable for commercial projects - and one should be careful about selecting them.

Secondly, fonts are very easy to pirate. The commerical fonts (eg. TypeKit fonts) can be copied and reused with a bit of HTML+CSS knowledge. Anyone know of a way to enforce the font licenses?

Font piracy is one of the oldest forms of piracy around. Enforcing font licenses in any form is pretty much futile.

Of course, you could always scramble the glyphs and then do an inverse scramble on the page (seriously though, don't do that unless you hate your users).

All of the fonts featured in the article are free for personal and commercial use. And yeah font piracy is a pretty big issue. I'm sure Proxima Nova is one of the most pirated fonts in the world. I see it on websites everywhere and I have a hard time believing every site actually purchased a license...

We need a font DRM standard for the web! Quickly, to the W3C!

Ha!

Interesting service. I'm thinking about the privacy/security concerns. Many PPTs contain proprietary material that cannot/should not be shared to third parties. NDAs exist, but they're difficult to enforce or sometimes maybe an overkill. How are the founders looking at addressing this problem?

Or something automated with minimal (or none) human intervention is desirable?

We're building a solution for this including scrambling key information and company identity from work. We work on a client by client basis to make sure that what we have in place meets their needs - often NDAs work very well.

I'm still looking for an exchange where I can buy Bitcoins simply with a Credit/Debit Card. I hurriedly read the title as:

Seamlessly Buy Bitcoin using Zinc

Missed the "with"! Anyone else wanting this? Or if it already exists, can someone point me there?

Buying a cryptocurrency with a credit card is expensive, and AFAIK the online merchants who accept cards for digital currencies don't distinguish between credit or debit cards. The companies that accept cards are going to charge you fees to cover the risk of a reversal (remember if you reverse, the exchange rate may have changed significantly since the original transaction making their managing their cash flow much more complicated), plus you may incur international card fees depending on who the merchant is, and they're still going to charge you their normal spread over and above this.

(This is true for fiat currencies too - cash and cash equivalents are a special case of purchases, and can attract cash advance fees, reward exclusions, etc. Try reversing an international credit card payment some time, too, you can be out by as much as 5-6% in fees even though the charge was reversed!)

If you want to still want to go this route you could try buying Second Life Lindens (SLL) at e.g. VirWox and using those to buy Bitcoin (BTC) - of course you're going to pay the spread twice, making your BTC even more expensive.

The problem with cards and Paypal is chargebacks. You can't get your coins back if someone cancels his currency transaction.

Most people don't abuse them, but a handful does, and that's enough to wreak havoc.

The only way this could ever work safely is if you partnered with a credit card company prepared to treat a record in the blockchain as sufficient proof to refuse a chargeback.

Or if you treated credit-card bitcoin purchases as options. On the surface it's not a good idea for someone to accept credit cards for bitcoins, but why can't I use my credit card to purchase BTC at the current rate for, say, April 15 delivery? Of course, now I have to trust the seller to follow through, but that's a tractable problem that can be solved with either reputation-based trust or escrow services.

I like this. Do you know how long one would have to wait for chargebacks to be no longer an option?

At a minimum, chargebacks can occur months later. The chances of a fraudulent chargeback would go down the longer you waited, though the changes of a legitimate "why don't I have my product yet" chargeback would likely go up.

I think it's a pretty solid way of establishing "delivery". But Credit Card company supporting BitCoins, that doesn't sound too probable, since easy availability of BTCs could be a threat to Credit Cards.

Haha!

You can do this on Coinbase

I loved the games. They aren't simply demo projects, but real, interesting & challenging games! Good game play, actually enjoyed them! :)

Damn you Google! :)

It's just days ahead of our product beta launch - AdPushup.com - which lets you optimize your Adsense earnings. Our MVP is focused on WordPress, and one of the components is the Visual Editor through which multiple ads (locations, designs, size etc.) can be placed on the WordPress website. I feel our editor is more flexible in terms of ad placement and settings, but this news is definitely a threat, or a validation in disguise.

Note to team: launch the beta even faster!

Nice! I think our customers would love to use this tool - is there a way we can work together? ned@tweaky.com

Hi Ned,

Thanks for the note, just sent you an email!

Do you mean something like file.jpg.exe?

Agreed, emailing .jar is kind of lame. They should have tried with some office/PDF exploits first!

AngularJS explicitly [1] states that its suited best for standard CRUD apps. If you need to do something which requires touching the DOM or some low level manipulation, better stay off it. We decided against it while building our GUI Editor ( adpushup.com), and decided on Backbone (w/ Backbone relational). Backbone is a library (as opposed to being a framework) and plays really nice with jQuery and vanilla JS.

However, there'll be projects/components for which AngularJS (or EmberJS) would be better suited, and we'll surely love to give it a try.
