This is the key danger of worshipping LLMs as false gods or oracles. They do not have superior answers, only random noise generated to appeal to simplistic, expedient deference of lazy people. All answers thus generated fall victim to an implicit appeal to authority fallacy.
Multiple reasons, not just the US. Might be that 2027-2028 are shaping up to be the riskiest time in living memory including such factors as ENSO heat, floods, droughts, and food insecurity.
An inconvenient truth is a very large fraction of Americans dislike EVs and are ideologically/culturally married to ICEVs as part of their "culture"/"identity", and don't care about ecology or climate change. Manufactured consent probably has something to do with it. It's irrational because the TCO of EVs is obviously cheaper than ICEVs.
Advertising is propaganda. And it uses emotions to elicit people to respond in certain ways.
The ad industry likes to say that they're in the business of informing people so they can make better decisions. Whereas they make sure you're uninformed so you can make worse decisions.
The average age of an EV on the road is less than four years, compared to over 12 years for hybrids and ICE vehicles. I'm not suggesting an EV can't also last that long, but it feels premature to say anything is "obvious" about TCO when they are such a new product category
Parliamentary systems of other countries usually have the advantages of lessons learned since the American revolution. The necessary feature of the American system is countervailing powers, but as a uniparty for corporations or one weakened, it ceases to function and cannot be easily reformed or competed against with a new party. These are flaws addressed to some degree by parliamentary systems where new party(ies) can challenge incumbents more easily.
Secondary to the extreme corruption. Corruption is the issue that must be resolved before everything else. The fashions of political parties or their structures are superficial by comparison.
The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators.
Nowhere in the Constitution or in any amendments does it say the executive branch may arbitrarily usurp states' rights by interfering with free and fair elections.
