Creativity, innovation, freedom?
10 guys in a room can't compete for long against hundreds of millions or billions pursuing their own separate interests. Sure, they can steal, but they can't create to the same degree if at all.
I recently read a survey of 14 promising new technologies: AI, EV's, drones, robots, batteries, et cetera. China was leading in 13/14, and is only 4 months behind on the 14th, AI.
Sure, it definitely didn't happen in the wake of its new owner feeling like it in one of his first major changes to the platform because of his "concerns" with bot traffic.
Luckily, he won that fight, and nowadays nobody thinks of bots when thinking of X, The Everything App.
How is bringing down the whole power grid in any particular country an extinction level event? I'm pretty sure that even in the worst case scenario it would be like a month of chaos in one particular part of the world at most, hardly something that would have a long-lasting impact on the humankind's ability to survive at large.
If the answer is "they'd at least try to nuke the country that did it in response", then once again, LLMs are not the main threat.
In all except the very least-developed countries in the world today, being without electricity for more than a few days would quickly result in significant lawlessness, starvation, and water shortages. So not an "extinction level event", but quite feasibly a "collapse of nation-states as we know them" event.
I'm one of those that instinctively types the letter "y", presses the down arrow, then enter, and goes straight to the subscriptions page.
Unfortunately, I now have to scroll through the "most relevant" section, then through shorts, and only then do I reach the videos in the chronological order. What I also hate is how when a channel I usually engage with uploads a video I have no interest in, then it's stuck on top of my subscription page in that "most relevant" section for like a week.
You can use Firefox plugin "Unhook remove youtube recommended and shorts" I think I also have some ublock filters that blocks those things. So, I only have videos.
