I've developed a heuristic that any web project posted to HN that mentions its size in the headline is probably a half-assed copy of something with better documentation, developer-mindshare, browser-support, testing, bug fixing etc.

Size and therefore speed is important on the web, but it seems an easy mental trap to optimize it at the expense of the other important things.
