While what Eric is saying is not wrong, I just think that its hard to enforce certain programming style on these app developers. Some of the apps are coded to be generic enough and can be plugged in easily, others not so much. None the less, I dont see how / why this is django's fault ?

I think his point is that, together with settings issues, the structure of apps makes it hard to make them generic.
