There has been malware that pretends to be a HID driver and function as a keylogger and/or execute arbitrary code. While Apple may be being overly cautious here, it's not entirely unreasonable.


And how does phoning home help here?


Presumably to check if the software that is about to run is in a blacklist. But this is nonsense because the blacklist could also be downloaded and checked locally.


I wonder how one might be able to install a HID driver whilst the machine is suspended.
