In theory this is true, but the dire software situation pretty much kills the idea in my mind.
Best case you'll be able to run PostmarketOS, but more likely you'll be constrained to a years old Android with an ancient kernel and a non-standard libc - that is after you mange to get the thing rooted in a convoluted process. You can also be pretty sure that thing is going to be running malware.
