If we didn't use so much bandwidth we could easily stay with 3G? So it seems like because companies built these video sites and now everyone wants to have access to them in their pocket, why should telecom companies invest in it?

Telecom companies should invest in it because it's what their customers want. Your thinking is completely backwards.
