There was a period where there were a bunch of "Heroku for Python" startups (eg. Gondor.io) that were gaining traction and approximating the Heroku DX. As soon as Heroku added support for Python, they all deflated.

In an alternate timeline where Heroku delayed adding Python support, the competitive pressure to keep the DX simple might have won out.
