I know that 3D Touch has been removed from newer iPhones, but I wonder if the hardware is actually gone. Itβs a fun little tool to show off

It is. There was an additional layer to the screen that allowed the 3D touch to work. Anything not advertised with 3D touch definitely does not have the actual hardware.
